What is meant by abnormal head shape?
The three causes of abnormal head shape [from most to least common] are:
  • positional deformities that develop during pregnancy and/or during the early months of life (commonly know as flat head syndrome);

  • early closure of the cranial sutures (also known as craniosynostosis); and

  • craniofacial syndromes, such as Apert's, Crouzon's, and Pfeiffer's.
